Basically, an insurance company has its own adjuster, who is looking out for the insurance company's interests (i.e. not looking to pay any more than the minimum they think they can get away with). By law homeowners are entitled to have an adjuster as well. We are experts in claim negotiation and insurance policies to ensure you get the maximum settlement for your claim. Whether it's a denied claim, an underpaid claim, or even a settled claim and you want to be sure you didn't leave money on the table. We thoroughly document ALL your damages and go through every inch of your policy to ensure everything you are entitled to is claimed. Everything we submit is presented in the language the insurance company understands (e.g Xactimate, claim in accordance with your policy language) and is legally tight, making it very hard for them to say "no."
We are totally contingent, meaning we don't get paid until we get a settlement, so it costs nothing to get started; we will review your claim for no charge. If we don't recover any funds, again no charge. The fee comes out of the settlement, so nothing comes out of your pocket. The percentage depends on the projected settlement, but generally the larger the claim, the smaller the percentage.
It varies, but we aim for 6-8 weeks after the claim is found to have merit. Of course this depends a lot on the insurance company, many of whom play the "deny, delay, defend" game, and the (in)experience of the insurance company adjuster, and the volume of claims the carrier is handling. However, we take over all the phone calls and negotiations with your insurance, relieving you of that burden!
Not necessarily. Insurance premiums are based on the location and the frequency of disaster-type events and the risks associated with them (for example all the hurricanes hitting Florida). Frequent frivolous claims and repeated personal negligence might, but "sudden and accidental" claims typically won't.
